From Strangers to Campfire friends: The story of the greenville camping club

Our story
What started in August 2025 as a simple idea turned into something much bigger than expected.

Lauren Wagner launched Greenville Camping Club through the Greenville 20s and 30s group with one goal in mind: bring together people who love the outdoors and are looking to meet others in a similar stage of life.

The first trip was planned without knowing a single person attending. By the end of that weekend, strangers had become close friends. That experience set the tone for everything that followed.

Harrison and Carrie were part of that very first trip and have since become core members of the team. As admins, they’ve helped plan and execute trips that continue to bring people together in a real way.

Since then, the group has grown through shared experiences such as weekend trips, campfires, hikes, and time spent away from the noise of everyday life. We’ve explored new places, met incredible people, and built something that goes beyond just camping.

This isn’t just about getting outdoors. It’s about connection. It’s about showing up, meeting new people, and leaving with friendships that actually last.

Greenville Camping Club exists for people in their 20s and 30s who want more than just another social event. It’s for those who want adventure, real conversations, and a group of people who feel like they’ve known each other longer than just a weekend.

We Believe The Best Connections Happen Outside

Getting outside strips everything back. No distractions, no pressure, just real conversations and shared experiences. At The Greenville Camping Club, we focus on creating environments where people can show up as they are and actually connect. Every trip is intentionally planned to make things easy, comfortable, and welcoming, whether it’s your first time camping or your tenth. From setting up camp to late night conversations around the fire, everything is designed to bring people together. The goal is simple: leave each trip knowing more people, feeling more connected, and already looking forward to the next one.

Arrive Solo, Leave With A Crew

What to expect

Expect a weekend that feels easy from the moment you arrive. We handle the planning so you can focus on meeting people, getting outside, and actually enjoying the experience.

You’ll spend your days exploring, whether that’s hiking, swimming, or just relaxing at camp, and your nights hanging out, sharing food, and getting to know the group. No pressure, no cliques, just a welcoming environment where conversations happen naturally.

Each trip is also shared by the group. Everyone takes on a simple role, whether it’s helping with meals, keeping the fire going, organizing gear, or supporting the flow of camp. It’s not about work, it’s about being part of it. You’ll pick things up naturally, learn as you go, and see how everything comes together. People help each other, step in where needed, and that’s a big part of what makes the experience feel real.

Most people show up not knowing anyone and leave with a group they’re already planning the next trip with.

Sustainability Initiatives

Taking care of the places we share

The outdoors is what brings us together, so taking care of it matters. We focus on simple, consistent practices that reduce waste and protect the places we visit.

We take pride in leaving every place better than we found it. That means following Leave No Trace principles on every trip and being mindful of how we move through the outdoors.

We rely on reusable supplies whenever possible, using cookware and gear that can be cleaned and used again rather than thrown away. It keeps waste down and makes the experience more intentional.

We also reuse containers and materials whenever possible, giving them a second life on future trips instead of throwing them away. Small habits like this go a long way.
